Preschool Peers


The Hudson City Schools Preschool Program is no longer accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year.  If you'd like to be notified about future openings or be included on the waitlist, please complete the interest form HERE.


PEER INFORMATION: Peer models are selected through a screening process that identifies peers who demonstrate typical skills in all areas and strong skills in the areas of social and communication.  Peer applications are accepted each December and a mandatory screening takes place in January to select peers for the following school year.  Peer spots are limited and students are selected through the screening process based on their screening score and demonstration of critical skills in the areas of social and communication.  Winter applicants will begin preschool at the start of the following school year in August and they must be 3 years old by September 1st.  A Fall screening may take place if spots are available at the start of the school year.  The fall application/screening process will take place in October/November with those children beginning in January of that current school year. Fall applicants must be 3 years old by January 1st of the year they begin preschool. Children who demonstrate strong communication, socialization, independence, and cooperation are great peer models.  Once chosen as a peer model, these students may remain in the program until they go to kindergarten.  Application information is announced on the district website, McDowell Early Learning School's website, the district's social media sites (Facebook/Twitter), and in the Hudson Hub.  
Tuition & Fees: $1500 per year for peers
Transportation: provided for special needs students, may be provided for peer models depending on class placement & where you live based on the transportation guidelines (AM= north of 303, PM= south of 303)
Hours: AM session: 8:55 - 11:40    and   PM session: 12:55 - 3:40
Days:  Preschool is in session Monday through Thursday.  Fridays are reserved for testing, conferences, and teacher training.
